Productivity

It normally takes at least 200 hours of "seat time" to become proficient at extracting trees using an excavator, assuming the individual has an aptitude for running heavy equipment and that the excavator is equipped with a proper tree extraction tool. Once trained, a good operator can remove trees at the rate of 6 - 8 trees per minute.

Boss crews typically work five to six days per week, and a minimum of 9 hours per day (including 1 hour to service equipment). Based on our experience in extracting and grinding salt cedar, Russian olive, and elm in river environments, each excavator and each large grinder will typically treat between 3 and 6 acres per day, either working independently or together.

On range lands, each excavator can typically extract and pile 8 - 12 acres of pinon pine or cedar trees per day (for future control burning of piles). Productivity in mesquite, because of their extensive, deep root systems is twice as slow and therefore is usually about twice as expensive to treat.

Boss - Optional Services

Follow-up treatment of re-sprouts at the end of first growing season after initial extraction, if required

Using Herbicide as prescribed     $ 150 - 350/ac

Using Secondary Extraction         $ 125 - 175/ac

Actual rates of production depends on tree size and density, topography, and environmental and weather conditions in the work area. Final cost will be based on the size of the project and an evaluation of the proposed work area by Boss. Add 1) applicable state and local taxes, if any, and 2) primary freight to deliver equipment to the job site. Rates are very sensitive to the price of off road diesel and are therefore subject to the change without notice.
